Nasturtium still life

£350.00

A strong painting by a midcentury Ukrainian artist. We love the vivid colours and the composition of this stunning nasturtium still life.

It is the work of Natalia Zaruba Berlyavskaya (1915-2008), a listed Ukrainian painter. She finished Lugansk art school in 1935 and graduated from Kiev Art Academy in 1946; she was member of the Union of Artists since then.

Zaruba is well known for her still lives and her ‘Soviet realist’ landscapes depicting rural life with nostalgic charm. Her work can be found in the art museums of Kiev and Poltava and in private collections across the US, Ukraine, Germany, Russia and Great Britain.

46cm x 61cm, and newly framed in a dark wooden frame. Signed in cyrillic .
