Funky floral

£420.00

We love an unusual floral and this early to mid century piece is one of the most eye catching florals we have found.

It is the work of listed artist Lars Boethius (1903-1968). Born in Stockholm, the son of a sea captain, Boethius studied at the Celeb Althins Art Academy and then the National Art Academy in Stockholm in the 1920s. He exhibited at the Swedish/French Art Gallery in Stockholm in the late 20s and held solo exhibitions at the Galerie Moderne in Silkaborg, Denmark. Boethius affiliated himself with the Smedsuddsnaive movements, which inspired a 12 year fascination with naive art, particularly inspired by the work of Henri Rousseau. In the 1930s, Boethius’ work entered a darker phase. We are pretty sure this piece predates that.

Boethius’ work can be found in the Museum of Modern art in Gothenburg, the Art Academy in Stockholm and museums in Malmo and Ystad.

56cm x 49cm.
