Flatlands in winter

£0.00
Sold Out

We love the colours and brushstrokes in this early 20th century Swedish landscape oil. The wonderful blues and greens, the clear water, the contrast with the eye catching gold frame, the sinuous trees.

Hugo Carlberg (1880 -1943) was a Swedish painter of portraits and landscapes. He trained at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm. He moved to Paris in 1905 at a time when Picasso was also in the French capital and immersed himself in Parisian modernity.

He exhibited across Sweden, at the Brooklyn Museum of Art and the Detroit Institute of Arts. His works are held in a number of private and public collections including the Moderna Museet and the National Museum.

63cm x 51cm.
